I love weekends with lovely ladies who make me laugh, and this weekend was another gem!
I had the gorgeous Miss Allegra Valentine in my studio and she was just fantastic fun! From her adorable accent to her big big brown eyes, she was delightful to work with and yet again, I had the opportunity to push someone out of their comfort box and to try to get them trying new things and having fun doing it.
I have to say, the funny thing about working with models, is that they often find a look that's easy and comfortable and they roll with it. It gets them lots of work and they look and feel good about it.
One thing that I love to see, is when a model knows her niche, but then wants help to push past it.
To take a look that's a polar opposite to them and to learn how to work it and make it work for them.
It's no easy task either. As it's so easy to slip back into the routine of the expression, the angle and the look they know works.
Shoots where I push a model beyond her usual often take a lot longer than shoots that work with an existing image, but man are they worth it! I love seeing the changes that a model will go through as they go through the stages of figuring out little tricks about their body that can help them with posing and getting themselves looking great for the camera.
Take Allegra, she's the epitome of pinup pretty! She's got giant eyes, gorgeous full pouty lips and she screams cute innocent pinup from every pore.
So with this shoot, we worked on getting her some images that were completely opposite to pinup. Something a little more edgy. With more grit. More emotion and less cheese.
We wanted images that said "come get me" with some attitude and personality.
And it was hard work. I won't lie. Because her eyes and her pout just kept on hitting back but we pushed through. And while it took some practise for her, I think we ended up with a fantastic set of images that have a really different feel to them.
No cheesecake here tonight......
Enjoy..........
